    [vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Check all connections[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Check all appliances that are connected to the rainwater feed from the pump.

    One of the most common problems is if the outside garden tap has been left dripping. This causes the pressure in the pipework to drop which starts the pump. The pressure then builds up and the pump stops.

    If it is a Direct Feed System i.e the pump is supplying directly to the toilet cisterns it is worth checking that the torbeck valves in the cisterns are also not dripping.

    Did this solve the problem?[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width="1/6"][vc_btn title="YES" style="3d" link="url:https%3A%2F%2Frainhub.co.uk%2Fthankyou%2F|title:Thankyou||"][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/6"][vc_btn title="NO" style="3d" link="url:https%3A%2F%2Frainhub.co.uk%2Fthe-pump-is-starting-and-stopping-on-its-own-3%2F|title:The%20pump%20is%20starting%20and%20stopping%20on%20its%20own%20%E2%80%93%20Contact||"][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/6"][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/6"][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/6"][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/6"][/vc_column][/vc_row]

    Check the non return valve

    [/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

    The non return valve is located on the inlet of the pump.

    Switch off the power to the pump.

    Remove the black plastic strainer and connectors. If you put your finger into the inlet you should feel a pin that should freely move backwards and forwards when pressed.

    Place the pump back into the water and power up the pump

    [vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The pump has a dry run protection mode that is designed to protect your pump in the event of no water in the tank. This means the pump has ‘gone to sleep’ and will automatically start again at set timings.

    Please check to ensure that there is water in the tank.

    Power off the pump and power it up again.

    Check the Solenoid Valve.

    Open the front cover of the Backup in a Box Control Unit.

    Is there a humming noise coming from the soleniod valve which is located on the right hand side of the unit and has the mains water supply plumbed into it.

    If yes then there is a fault with the solenoid valve and you will require technical assistance.

    Please turn the power off to the Backup in a Box and contact us.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/3"][vc_empty_space height="50px"][vc_single_image image="591" img_size="medium" alignment="right" style="vc_box_shadow_3d"][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_btn title="Contact Technical Services" style="3d" link="url:https%3A%2F%2Frainhub.co.uk%2Fcontact%2F|||"][/vc_column][/vc_row]

    Check the float switch condition

    The level sensor is located beneath the filter housing and above the inlet to the pump. Make sure that it is able to move freely.

    Turn off power to the Backup in a Box unit and the pump. Remove the level sensor from the tank and check if any debris is preventing the sensor from moving up and down the short stem that it is located on.

    Clean / Remove any debris

    Turn on the pump and Backup in a Box and wait 45 minutes to see if the water stops flowing.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/3"][vc_single_image image="559" img_size="medium" alignment="right" style="vc_box_shadow_3d"][vc_single_image image="580" img_size="medium" alignment="right" style="vc_box_shadow_3d"][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Did this help?[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width="1/6"][vc_btn title="YES" style="3d" link="url:https%3A%2F%2Frainhub.co.uk%2Fthankyou%2F|||"][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/6"][vc_btn title="No" style="3d" link="url:https%3A%2F%2Frainhub.co.uk%2Fwater-is-constantly-flowing-into-the-underground-tank-4%2F|title:Water%20is%20constantly%20flowing%20into%20the%20underground%20tank%20%E2%80%93%20Solenoid||"][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/6"][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/6"][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/6"][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/6"][/vc_column][/vc_row]

    Check Float Switch and Power

    Plug in the AC Power Adaptor and power up the wall plug socket. If there is power going to the unit the water should start flowing for about 5 seconds and then stop. If this is the case then the unit is working.

    As another check please do the following :

    • Disconnect the AC Power Adaptor
    • Disconnect the Float Switch
    • Plug in the AC Power Adaptor
    • Plug in the Float Switch
